I've been noticing some odd changes in my blog display behavior the last few weeks. Turns out that my paid account ran out - without my ever receiving any kind of notice or "hey, do you want to renew?" messages from LiveJournal. Not exactly the way to run a business, guys. Then again, I've noticed that their service and tone has changed pretty drastically since they moved their offices from Seattle to the Bay Area. Now they're threatening advertisements on blogs - if you don't have a paid account, and if you volunteer to host adds in reward for more pictures or something.
Now on the one hand, obviously I wasn't using too many of the "paid" features if I just now noticed I no longer had them.
On the other hand, I prefer to support the service I'm using regularly, even if I can get it basically for free - because I know it's not for free for the people providing it.
But I really don't like having the threat of advertisements be the tipping point.
*sigh* Decisions, decisions...
