...that a movie like Blazing Saddles could never be made today? I don't think we're that open and honest about all of our warts and foibles now, even in our humor.
They couldn't have made it then, either, if the studio had had its way. Mel Brooks was smart enough that he got it into his contract from the start that he was the one with final editorial say over the movie. Listen to the "commentary" (It's more "chat with Mel" than actually commentary.) before you give the DVD back to me. It's enlightening. :)
