jaunthie | It was too darn hot this weekend

fisherbear and I meant to go to the Bite this weekend, but it was just too darn hot to want to cope with that many people. I hear there were a lot of fights (very unusual), and overall the violent crime rate seems to have gone way up along with the temperature. I really hope the weather breaks soon.

One small highlight in all this heat, though; it's been really easy to dry bedding and tablecloths on the clothesline in the backyard. We did a LOT of laundry this weekend - one of the few chores that still feels feasible even when it's baking hot. And one bit of forethought made me happy: we squeezed a bunch of OJ from fresh oranges my parents brought back this spring and froze it. Last night I carved out a wedge of it - it was the absolute best orange popsicle ever, and very refreshing in all this heat!

Now please, let the weather cool off so I can get a good night's sleep...
