I had an appointment with my fabulous hair stylist Tim today. As it happened, his follow-up appointment cancelled on him, so I was his only client for the entire time I was in the salon (usually Tim's so booked he'll be working on a couple of different people concurrently, cutting my hair while his next client gets their hair colored and so on). We had a great time chatting about his latest week-long class in London, the state of the world in general, San Diego's population boom, and so on. But I also discovered an interesting side effect of being his only client during that time: he REALLY took his time with my hair. Tim's work is always fantastic, but not only was this the most spectacular job he's done with my hair to date, he made notes for a custom-designed-just-for-me hairstyle he wants to give me the next time I come in. Whoo-hoo!
The only slightly disturbing thing about all of this?
My hair appointment took over three hours.
I didn't realize ANY hair appointment could go so long! And it's not like I was getting a permanent or doing anything really exotic, either. I guess this is what the stars and famous people experience - personalized attention, custom designs, and lavish attention to detail that takes hours to do properly.
And all for lil' ol' me, just because his other appointments cancelled.
Yeah, I could get used to this! :-D
