...are now Eris, Goddess of Discord, and her daughter Dysnomia, spirit of lawlessness. The discoverer of Xena/Eris (whose discovery led to Pluto's recent demotion from planet status) is highly amused at the appropriateness of the official names. You can read all about it here.

It was a very busy and very satisfying weekend, with friends visiting from out of town. I keep meaning to write up all of our adventures, but I keep not having time - and given that it's already Thursday (eek!), I doubt I'll get to it. So let me simply say that it was lovely meeting ficscribbler and numberscruncher in person at last, and that I hope we get a chance to see them again soon!

And in other news, the first real rain of autumn has arrived! (And trust me, there's no mistaking a summer rain for an autumn rain, at least not around here.) It made the commute this morning a huge mess, but it's worth it! It needs to keep raining for at least a solid day.
