What is up with the bartlett pears this year? It's a huge bumper crop, and large portions of it keep landing in my kitchen. Fortunately
fisherbear is having his artists' reception for his photo show tomorrow, so it's time to play Experiment with Pear Muffin Recipes and hope for the best. I'd do a pie, but honestly, pie is not reception food, and tartlets are just too much bother.
Between that and the lentil soup I want to make for supper tonight (must use the leaf amaranth, and we've got spinach that needs using too, and of course the herbs are in prime condition for using) and the mass o' peppers begging to be turned into chili, it should be a busy culinary weekend. It's that time of year, though - time to start stocking up the freezer with all the savory soups and stews I won't have time to make during the work week but will want to eat as the weather turns cold!
